A year ago, The Lord started me on a journey of faith when I gave up everything to start a stateside work for Mwangaza International. Even though the work had been going on in Congo for five years, we needed to launch it here in the US. I had nothing but my faith and my friends to keep this dream going. My friends at the Rapha House invited us to join them so that we could promote the organization.
My friend Stephanie Freed, director of the Rapha House, came to me with a ten dollar bill. She told me that a young girl and her mom had donated that to our organization. Stephanie showed me the young girl and her mother and their faces looked familiar. I remembered meeting Mitzi (the mom) and Olivia (the daughter) at the Christian Church of Carl Junction. Olivia did not know that she was our very first donor and the seed she had planted by being willing to let go of her money helped us get started with the new work.
I met with Olivia and Mitzi last week because I wanted to share this story with all of our friends. First of all she is eleven not ten like I told some of you. Olivia has a servant’s heart and her love for Jesus at a young age shines through her actions. Olivia volunteers her time at the Rapha House. She tells her friends in school about human trafficking and the need to stop it.
“Everything counts, every penny counts.”
I asked Olivia why she was getting involved, she said, “Everything counts, every penny counts.” Then with a bright smile she said, “I do this because that is what Christians should do.” Meeting with Olivia and her mother was a refreshing time for me. It reminded me that at the very beginning when the Lord told me to start this ministry He knew He was going to provide. He used a ten-year old to plant the first seed for this ministry.
As we are moving into a new season at Mwangaza International, we would like to invite you in our quest to bring the love of Jesus Christ in the dark places of this world.
Olivia said “It feels good to help; I like to make people happy.”
It does not take a lot. Little things done with great love always have a life changing effect!
