I just read this article by Mark Doyle of BBC news, it says a lot about the health situation in DRC:
On the day I visited the hospital a car accident victim was rushed in, his head pouring with blood.
"I don't have any bandages," Dr Kabamba said, "my cupboard is bare. We will have to wait for a family member to come here with cash before we treat him."
Activist and author, John Prendergast, wrote an article about DRC back in August, and it just came to our attention today. The article looks at the way our purchases in the West fund illegal trading of natural resources in places like Congo. You can check it out here.

AFP reports here that the DRC forces have killed or captured many Rwandan rebels in eastern Congo. These rebels came into Congo after their involvement in the 1994 genocide in their own country. The UN and the DRC government launched an initiative to rid Congo of these rebels this past summer.
